This may be his first year shooting mainly for Landscape photography. But Pete has been a professional photographer for over 35 years where he started photography as a hobby in the early 80’s. Pete has been running wedding workshops under Bristo Photography & Fotoinspir3 for over 8 years now traveling all over the country meeting hundreds of amatuer and professional wedding photographer. As a people person Pete love’s to go out and about meeting other photographers discussing and capturing landscapes in the changing weather conditions. “I’m looking forward to meeting lots of new photographers young and old on my Workshops, Photowalks and one to one’s in and around the UK”. Below are just a few of Pete’s favourite landscape images taken over the last 8 months. “I say the last 8 months as I’m really looking forward to capturing the Autumn colours in September and October to complete my first full year shooting Landscape photograph”.
“Ive been very lucky this year spending time in some beautiful eye-catching locations capturing these great power shots”. Below are a few of my favourite images captured in the Lakes, Scotland and Iceland. “Ive got lots more location shoots planned this year to recce for future workshops. Its all in the planning!
This image of the Old Man of Storr on the Isle of Skye was shot in late March where conditions were perfect . I took this shot around 06:00 in the morning, ready for sunrise. However there is a 1 hour slog to the top of the mountain to capture this stunning image witch meant being at the gate for 05:00hrs to get to the top in time. I’ll be heading back to skye later in the year to run a Landscape Workshop and capture more wonderfull imagery like this.
Another stunning and iconic location on the Isle of Skye just 30mins drive from the Old Man of Storr is the Quiraing. This location is a little easier to get to being able to park 5 mins from where this shot was taken. The shot was captured in the evening just after sunset.
We had a great week in Skye with only a couple of days rain allowing us to capture great imagery throughout the week. Instead of heading back to Yorkshire we stayed and extra 4 days jumped on the ferry over to the island of Harris & Lewis where we stayed in the town Stornaway. We unpacked the car and headed out to recce he Mangersta Sea Stacks. We arrived just after sunset but I managed to capture this shot before the light faded. I obviously headed back the next day to shoot it again. This time I managed to get a sunset as well. What a stunning location.
Another Power shot taken on Day 2 in Lewis was this image taken a Stac a’ Phris on the Isle of Lewis. This one was a bit harder to find, but I got there in the end. I had done my home work and googled the to locations in Lewis roughly plotting them on a map then headed out. Once again I’ll be running a Landscape workshop on Harris and lewis later in the year. Check out my workshops for more images and details plus dates.
A little farther a field! Ive just returned from a very wet week in the Land of Ice and Fire! More like the land of wind and rain which is pretty much all it did for my week there. We had 8 days and 2 were clear with bits of rain! The rest of the week was rain and fog. The 2 days that were clear were just mind blowing scenery, the country is huge and it takes hours to get from one location to the other! We covered 20oo miles in the 8 days and didn’t even go to the north of the country. We managed to get to the Highlands to scout out for future workshops. The landscapes are just amazing! can’t wait to go back. The shot above was taken at 04;30 in the morning when we had a 15 minute window while the rain stopped! then it rained for the rest of the day.
Just like Harris and lewis I had done my homework and worked out where all the locations were that I wanted shoot were in Iceland and plotted them on a map. Ive got to say that Google maps on the iPhones worked a brilliantly finding our locations even if you couldn’t see them!. The above image is the Valley of Tears in the north of the highlands. The iPhones took us straight to the valley and the view was stunning! We managed to capture this shot above just before rain stopped play for the day. But what a shot! wow. Going back later in the year to capture the Northern Lights. Lots of Iceland imagery and information to come on the blog!
A bit closer to home we have just spent a week at Eskdale in the Lake District. As per normal I visited wast water on 2 occasions where it was raining with low cloud cover. This image was as a second attempt as the day before I was rained of but decided it was worth another walk up the Esk Valley and it didn’t disapoint. Check out the blog to see more images from my trip to the Esk Valley.
Below are images from my Wedding Photography Buisness. We have 4 weddings left to take in the next 4 weeks. There all in Stunning venues such as Carlton Towers, Ripley Castle, Salt Marshe Hall and the final wedding will be at a venue close to our heart Ripley Castle were we have shot over 40 weddings there and feel like part of the family. Were looking forward to meeting our wedding couples and capturing there special day. Its a great privilege to be able to photograph and share a wedding couple wedding day. Of course we will miss capturing weddings, however I’m really excited about the Landscape photography and maybe will see some of our wedding couples on our landscape workshops.
